GRASS at SICAM 2026: Space for the essentials.
With illuxo, GRASS brings light to drawers and once again proves its skill with 8 millimetre materials across a range of concepts. At SICAM 2026, the specialist for movement systems will showcase how consistent streamlining opens up new space for design and functionality.
Luxury starts when you open the drawer. That was one of the key findings from the latest GRASS trend report "Grounded Comfort", which can be found at https://www.grass.eu/en/inspiration/trend-report-2026/. Today, quality is becoming increasingly focused on areas where it is not immediately visible, such as inside the furniture, in perfect movement or in the precise details. GRASS calls this development "The Inner Standard". The Austrian specialist will translate this idea into tangible products and innovative concepts for the future at SICAM, which will take place in Pordenone from 20 to 23 October 2026.
illuxo provides elegant lighting for drawers
illuxo is the new lighting solution for Vionaro V8 and Nova Pro Scala from GRASS. The principle is deliberately simple: A slim, colour-coordinated batten with integrated LEDs is affixed to the frame from above. The effect becomes obvious when you open the drawer. illuxo specifically showcases the interior of the furniture, improves visibility in the furniture and turns a functional detail into a design element.
8 millimeters: GRASS expertise
For GRASS, streamlining has long been more than just a design principle. With Vionaro V8, the company has proven that a steel frame can be reduced to just 8 millimetres in thickness without compromising on stability or performance. But 8 millimetres is more than just the dimension of a single product for GRASS. The idea of careful streamlining spans multiple different applications and details - for example, the 8 millimetre F8 inner fronts, the designer panel of the Nova Pro Scala, the elegant elements of the Tavinea interior partitioning system and much more.
At SICAM, GRASS will be showcasing how they plan to expand this skill further. Aside from the market-ready new products, the company will be looking ahead to the future through a complete kitchen, all of the cabinets in which have been streamlined down to a material thickness of just 8 millimetres. The sophisticated design of this case study is made possible by a specially developed connection solution, which, combined with a completely redesigned structural concept, provides the necessary stability despite the low material thickness. The study combines three topics that will increasingly influence furniture construction in the future: Lightweight, design and sustainability. Less material means less weight, while also opening up a new, particularly light design language.
Platform meets wood
A second study shows that platform concepts shouldn't end with material limits. A three-sided wooden box with the front connection of the Vionaro V8 will be on show. The front can be simply clicked on and removed again just as easily when needed - such as for cleaning.
Less technology. More furniture
Vionaro V8 and the Nova Pro platform continue to form the heart of the GRASS portfolio at SICAM. V8 offers maximum streamlining and a frame whose 8 millimetres of technical performance translate directly into design quality. Nova Pro demonstrates how diversity can be organised on a shared platform, with compatible components and a wide range of options for differentiation. illuxo and the two case studies take this idea one step further. Sometimes technology creates an experience by bringing light into the furniture. Sometimes it disappears completely, so that space is created. And sometimes materials are streamlined to such an extent that a completely new aesthetic is possible.
For GRASS, "The Inner Standard" goes beyond simply increasing attention on the interior of the furniture. It means making technology so intelligent that it results in more freedom for design.
